DONATE

Churches, companies, Trusts and individuals all give generously to help make the Easter Play happen. Every year, we need to raise money to meet the costs of sound equipment, insurance, advertising, facilities and costumes and to pay the professionals who work on the play.

We are in danger of not being able to stage the play in 2025 which is our 20th Anniversary year, simply due to the fact that income from Trusts and Foundations is drying up.

If you would like to be a part of this exciting project by making a financial contribution of whatever size, then we would be most grateful. There are several ways to do this:

You can make a one-off donation or, if you would like to give regularly, please contact us to set up a Standing Order. If you are a UK tax payer, please maximise your gift using a Gift Aid form, contact us for details. You can contact us by email at cuttingedge21@btinternet.com or at the address below.

ACTING

Every year, a cast of all ages and backgrounds, of all faiths and none, come together to create the Edinburgh Easter Play. New members are welcomed into the cast every year, and find it a great experience whether they are moving towards an acting career or simply build confidence and make friends.

With the exception of the actor who will play Jesus, all the actors are volunteers with a wide range of experience and abilities – there is something for everyone! The cast is supported by experienced professionals.

Rehearsals are usually for two hours on Wednesday evenings but there will be increased rehearsal time as the production date gets closer. The rehearsals are led by Suzanne Lofthus, the director, and will include initial drama workshops built around the theme and text, improvisations to build the characters and text work. If you have questions, contact Suzanne on cuttingedge21@btinternet.com

VOLUNTEERING

We don’t just need actors to make the Easter Play happen.

Every year, volunteers join us from a wide range of backgrounds to be stewards, work on the costumes and props, help on the sound team, make and serve soup and rolls to cast and crew and help to look after our audience.

Whatever your skills, there will be a place for you on the team. To find out more, contact cuttingedge21@btinternet.com
